Last August, I moved into my own apartment, after a long list of housing throughout Aarhus. Apartments are a) pretty expensive and b) hard to come by in this city. You are normally better off if you can network and find an apartment through a friend of a friend. Within two years, I have lived in 5 places:
-A hotel outside of the city for a week, with Granny
-Nanna's boyfriend's room (he was living with her) from Sept - Oct 2008 - I also shared this room with another American girl who did not have a place to sleep
-A two room furnished apartment with the American girl mentioned before from Oct 2008 - Apr 2009 - this is the apartment that a bartender/complete stranger found for us, and was a little of a 'under the table' situation, as the man whose place it was moved to Thailand, but wanted to keep his apartment and still get money from the government
-An awesome apartment by myself, from a coworker at the school who could not sell it. Consequently, he managed to sell it a month after I moved in, so I could only stay for 3 months. Apr 2009 - June 2009
-A shared apartment with 3 Danish roommates; a nice place, nice area, but I am too old for roommates :) June 2009 - July 2010
-My current apartment, pictured below, Aug 2010 - present
As you can see, I am pretty close to the sea, which is nice - see map here
