The roads in Spain are very much like American roads - very modernized and easy to get around on for the most part. Once in Barcelona and walking around, we had no real plan. We wandered around aimlessly for awhile, before we used a map and the Catheral in the middle of the city as our center point. There is great shopping in Barcelona and cute cafes everywhere. We finally ran into a Barcelona Tourist Bus program; we purchased a 2-day ticket and saw the city that way. We were able to hop on and off the bus at our leisure. Barcelona is a BIG city! And REALLY easy to get lost in. The street signs are not too clean and not really obviously placed, so we often had a hard time trying to find our car.
That first day we were so eager to start walking around and sightseeing that we made the mistake of not finding a place to stay. We couldn't find a hostel for awhile, but finally ended up finding one. It was my first hostel experience, which was definitely interesting...but honestly, not a bad way to travel. You meet people from all over the world, and all with the same passion of travelling and seeing the world. It is very cool!
We woke up the next day, did some more touring on the tour bus and headed to Madrid around lunch. We nknew there was still stuff we wanted to do in Barcelona, so we planned on making it back in the next few days to finish up. Again, we couldn't find our car for awhile, which was frustrating. Most cars in Europe are manual, so I was predominately driving; however, I did teach Rachel how to drive a stick....and she was pretty good. I will say I am a darn good teacher. She is the second person I have taught how to drive one!
You are mainly going to be looking at pictures with little commentary - be prepared!

I am mesmerized by the beach and water. I think I will need to live by water someday. Or at least have a house by it!

Saw tons of these windmills everywhere. When they are in mass quantitites, they can be a little creepy.
